Overview

Spinmouth was founded durring the early 12th century in fall of the year 1133, by Myfanwy Coles Woodcock. The establishment of Spinmouth was plagued by a lack of willing colonists. After attempts to pay people to resettle failed Myfanwy Coles Woodcock struck deals with nearby nations and communities to establish Spinmouth as a prison colony.

Spinmouth was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the early 12th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Spinmouth is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Spinmouth is buildings are speckled and packed arround spacious baked earthen streets with seemingly no patern to them. It appears as if the town's residents simply built streets as they pleased and squeazed buildings in wherever and howeave rpossible, creating an organic, frustrating to navigate, maze of a town. The town has a defencive wall made from large clay bricks. The wall is constructed to the exact specifications of millitary fortifications, but the nature of its clay brick construction leaves it vulnerable to even outdated siege equipment. That said, the town is well defended against anything short of an army. Spinmouth's brittle defences are in an unremarkable state. To some, this is the ideal sate for defences to be in. In need of absoutly nothing, and ready to serve the town as needed.

Right off the bat Spinmouth hits you in the face with its success. Everyone, even the peasants, are dressed in well made clothing. Every tool and implement you can see is finely made, and people will boast to you as obvious strangers of the wonders which can be found in their markets. More interestingly is a total lack of beggars, and plenty of new buildings are going up even as you speak. Somehow this town has come into quite a lot of wealth, and recently from the looks of things. Precisely how it has gained its wealth is a mystery. Spinmouth is, in a word, disorder. People seem to be allowed to do as they please with little harmoney to anything. It feels less like a town, and more like a spot people just happened to place their homes. Yet there are small elements here and there which show the underlying structure of the community. It’s just so complex, organic, and flowing one can only understand what is a piece of the puzzle, but not what its neighbors are.

Cultural Notes

Spinmouth's bank was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is known for its fluid and florid elaborate style, comprising ornate, asymmetric designs and pastel shades. It is often considered to be a playful, light style, which made exuberant use of curves and emphasized subtle asymmetry in the general shape of its structures. Walls, ceilings and moldings are decorated with numerous interlacing of curves and counter-curves based on the shapes of ‘C’ and ‘S’, along with shell forms and other naturalistic shapes.

Due to the actions of local Kami, summer is recurring in Spinmouth.

The Ooze, Amber near Spinmouth are known to be quite timid.

Spinmouth's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in winter and involves orgies to channel Wild Magic energies of tier 1 via proclamations.

History

A local has came up with a wonderful new idea (18435 % 6)+1 months ago; it may be a magical innovation, a new industrial process, a new agricultural product, a new use for what was thought to be ancient garbage, or some other very useful, profitable idea. Everyone around them is fighting for the chance to exploit this clever new plan.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century Woe Mountain, an iconic vista located neare Spinmouth, proved to be volcanic when the mountain erupted. The eruption was isolated to the area around Spinmouth, which was swallowed in ash, lava flows, and pyroclastic gasses. Spinmouth lost 221 people, 249 livestock, and 92 buildings in the disaster. The event is forever remembered as the Day of Woe's Wrath.
